Testimonial from a Graduate from CSCT Campus
Buddhika Jayasinghe – Quantity Surveyor
BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, Accredited by RICS & IQSSL.
“As a graduate of the Colombo School of Construction Technology (CSCT), who successfully completed the four year RICS accredited degree with industrial experience through the collaborative programme with University of Salford, UK, I am currently working as the Head of Operations in a reputed company in Sri Lanka.
I am proud to share my academic and professional journey with CSCT, which has been rewarding and transformative experience. My journey began as a university student pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, where I developed a strong academic foundation that ignited my passion for the construction industry. I am deeply grateful for the exceptional quality of education provided by CSCT, which far exceeded my expectations and played an important role in shaping my career.
Upon completion of my degree, I gained continuous experience in the Construction Industry, working as a Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager and Head of Operations. This period allowed me to gain invaluable practical experience, where I further developed my skills in estimating, cost monitoring, cost control, project management, quality assurance etc. Through these experiences, I successfully contributed to the completion of several high-profile projects both in Sri Lanka and internationally. The hands-on learning opportunities, particularly the site visits and practical experience provided by CSCT during my academic studies, were instrumental in my ability to successfully complete these tasks.
In addition to the industry roles, I had the privilege of returning to CSCT as a Visiting Lecturer. I delivered lectures in both Pearson BTEC HND and University of Salford BSc programs, where I shared my industry insights and practical knowledge with students who are eager to enter the construction profession. This teaching role has been incredibly amazing, enabling me to give back to the campus that was instrumental in shaping my career, while also playing a part in preparing future construction leaders. I am truly grateful for the opportunities CSCT has provided, which have significantly enhanced my career as a Quantity Surveyor and enriched my experience as a Lecturer. Reflecting on this journey, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the CSCT Academic Staff and Management for their unwavering support extended towards my career development. Thank you!
